History
[edit]Alliance's Scandinavian Entry (2019)
[edit]Alliance entered Apex Legends early on by signing a three-stack of players known as SWEPRO, which included Dennis "LAZXR" Wadenfors, Philip "Lowley" Olsen, and Simon "Vaifs" Bellini. A squad of Scandinavian players that had quickly found themselves at the top of the European Scrims, placing third twice in the first two seasons. [2] Following their signing they were then also able to qualify for the first FACEIT Pro Series, in which the team consistently placed on the top spots in the kill-race based events. Following the Pro Series, Alliance was then invited to the X Games, the only European team to receive a direct invite, and found themselves in the first proper competition. At X Games, Alliance was however not able to find much success, as they couldn't find a standout performance, ultimately finishing in eleventh, just outside of the prize money. Following their disappointing performance the team decided to part ways with LAZXR. [3] This did leave Alliance with little time to find a new third, as they then had to attend the Preseason Invitational in Poland. Here they opted to play Oliver "Badoli" Kurtuldu, but were unable to make it through the bracket stage. After narrowingly advancing one round in the winners bracket of a tie-breaker for 10th place, they proceeded to fall into the lower bracket after scoring only five points in their second round, followed by an exit in losers as they finished in 18th place. Alliance however would look to end their year on a high note, bringing in John "Hakis" Håkansson for the GLL Apex Series. Alliance saw a successful event after making it through the qualifier, and at first, looked to have found a second-place finish. However, their points for the eleventh game had been voided, as the team had broken a rule in that match. [33] And with the adjusted scoring the team had fallen to a fifth place finish.
Solidifying A Place in Europe's Top (2020)
[edit]Starting the new year, Alliance initially benched Lowley as he went on a medical break [4], and later followed it up by officially signing Hakis as the team's new captain ahead of the first ALGS Qualifier. [5] Alongside the signing, Adam "nitrahh" Blombacke joined the team as a stand-in for the first tournament.
"I'm very happy we are bringing on John to our roster. His ability to lead his team to victory is very remarkable and after a strong showing in the past weeks of scrims and online tournaments I'm confident to say that we are here to stay as one of Europe's top teams"
However, following a disappointing start where the team was knocked out of the tournament early on, the team brought back Lowley for the following online tournament. Here Alliance turned the tides around and managed to find their first ALGS victory in dominating fashion. However, the third tournament saw yet another early exit. By the fourth tournament, Alliance announced that they were re-contracting their roster, this time finding their official replacement for Lowley in Kha "iPN" Nguyen. [6] With their new third, they showed immediate success, placing second.
For the remainder of the year, Alliance would keep up their top placements across the European region, notably placing third at the fifth Online Tournament, second at GLL Masters Summer, first at the PGL Showdown, and a series of successes over the Autumn Circuit.
